Andrei Arlovski vs Roy Nelson Set for EliteXC on CBS 3 on October 4th

Sherdog's Loretta Hunt has the Scoop

At least two fighters will not sit on the sidelines following the postponement of Affliction’s Oct. 11 “Day of Reckoning” event in Las Vegas.

Former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski (13-5) and IFL kingpin Roy Nelson (13-2) have been offered a heavyweight bout at EliteXC “Heat” Oct. 4 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. The event will be aired live on CBS.

Arlovski’s management team would not comment Wednesday on the proposed bout, while Nelson’s attorney, Rod Donohoo, also refrained from remarks. However, Sherdog.com has learned from separate sources that both fighters have agreed in principle to the match and that contracts have been issued for review.

There are also rumors that Josh Barnett turned down this opportunity to fight Arlovski on CBS because he would've had to take a pay cut.

This certainly strengthens the card for the more knowledgeable fan. I've never been a Roy Nelson fan, it just seems that every time I see an interview with the guy he comes off as a cocky prick. Arlovski is on a different level than Roy is, Arlovski should dominate him.

Ken Shamrock Talks Kimbo Slice Fight(Video)

This is actually from awhile ago, but of course now we know its going to happen so this video, just like that, becomes relevant again. I'm still rooting for Shamrock via heel hook or kneebar, that would be priceless. Some IFL fighters(or should I say former IFL fighters) also weigh in on the match-up.

Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock Set for October 4th on CBS

Sherdog gets the scoop.

Ken Shamrock (Pictures) will be the fourth man to face Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson (Pictures) when the two icons clash at EliteXC’s third installment of “Saturday Night Fights” Oct. 4 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. The headlining bout will anchor a live broadcast on CBS.

Sherdog.com confirmed the bout’s signing with multiple parties aware of the fight, while a press release is expected to circulate later today with the news.

The 44-year-old Shamrock (26-13-2) beat out fellow candidates Sean Gannon and Brett Rogers (Pictures), who called out Slice in May, for the coveted slot.

Shamrock has lost his last 5 fights, but he's still a huge name for hardcore and mainstream fans alike. I'll be watching and rooting for "The World's Most Dangerous Man", who will most likely be a heavy underdog. I've got 2 words for Kimbo "Heel Hook"!!

The Numbers Are In, Kimbo Slice Took 71 Consecutive Unanswered Blows, Bas Rutten Says It Should've Been Stopped

According to MMA Mania Kimbo Slice recieved 71 consecutive unanswered blows in the second round starting at the 1:20 mark until the end of the round.

Bas Rutten recently made a post about the fight on his website, here is what he had to say about the barrage of second round unanswered blows.

People ask me if the fight should have been stopped at the end in the second round, I say YES because those are the rules, it should have been stopped because Kimbo didn't do anything to improve his situation. But I think what made the ref NOT do it was the fact that Kimbo was giving his thumbs up the whole time to let the referee know that he was OK.
This was the refs decission, not Kimbo's.

My Take: I agree with Bas, its the rules and while Kimbo did show heart by hanging in there he wasn't doing anything to defend himself or improve position. Long story short, Dan Miragliotta is a bad ref.
