Dana White Video Interview, Talks Shamrock vs Shamrock and Kimbo

This interview was before UFC 81, but its a good interview and the first time I've seen it on the net. Apparently, Dana is not too fond of the Shamrock vs Shamrock idea, whatever, I'll be watching if it happens.

I wish Dana would just say that he doesn't like someone personally, instead of trying to rationalize his dislike with issues of skill. To dig up the Kimbo/Gannon fight is like saying "that girl was ugly in jr. high so she's gotta be ugly now." Something happens when people actually train... they get better!!! And when they train with EL Guapo.... there's no tellin what Kimbo's capable of until he gets a few more fights. I say go drag Gannon out of whatever filthy pub toilet he's passed out in, and see if he can even make it past the stare down with Kimbo. Maybe White has some strategy behind insulting certain people with lots of earning potential. Or maybe he truly feels like business is going just fine without having to be respectful to people he just chooses not to like.

The point that Dana is missing with Shamrock vs Shamrock is that fights aren't always about finding out who is the best fighter of all time. Sometimes it is interesting to see how two different styles will combine, or how a rivalry will play out, or if two (adopted) brothers will actually go all-out against each-other.

Please God no. No more fucking Kevin Ferguson talk. The guy has about as many legitimate MMA fights as I have, ZERO!!!

Send him to the WWE were their guys have stage names and the matches are rigged, He'll fit right in.

Hopefully Dana sticks to his guns and keeps that sideshow away from the UFC.

Shamrock Vs Shamrock is stupid. Glad Dana recognizes that. EliteXC likes gimmicks, maybe they'll take that fight.

You can't be mad at Kevin Furgison. He trains like a mother fu#%er, and doesn't act like an asshole to people. Hate his promoters for insisting on giving him easy sideshow fights. Hate EliteXC for being too corporate in their match making approach. But Kevin knows he hasn't had a decent opponent yet. Better yet, hate fu$*in' Dana White for talking shit about Kimbo not having any good fights, when he just signed a douchebag by the name of Brock, with NO RECORD, who came from... oh yeah... the WWE!!!!!! Where guys have stage names and matches are rigged!!! You got your head so far up Dana's ass that all you can hear is his bullshit. Pull your head out and try thinking for yourself.

Lesnar actually came from the University of Minnesota where he won the 2000 NCAA Heavyweight wrestling championship after being the runner up the year before. He is also a two-time NJCAA All-American, two-time NCAA All-American, two-time Big Ten Champion, with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college. He also didn't need to come up with a stage name in order to attract more fans. Lesnar was and is an accomplished fighter, and while his debut in the octagon might have been a tad early, he clearly showed he has the potential to be a serious contender.

Kevin Ferguson is a joke. Thank God Dana is smart enough to realize that and hopefully will keep that bum away from the UFC. Get off of Ferguson's balls and you'd realize that.

I'm well aware of Brock's wrestling credentials, and I've watched several of his matches, but they are not fighting credentials. My 3 year old daughter throws a better looking punch then him. And Kevin isn't necessarily who I trying to defend. He trains with Bas Rutten. Someone whom I respect much more than almost anyone else in the MMA game. His work ethic is beyond that even of wrestlers. And his experience is enough to make a hardened criminal weep. Bas has dedicated his personal time and attention to training Kevin Furgison because he sees some real potential there. Whether that potential comes into fruition or not remains to be seen. But you are not going to convince me that one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time is a worse judge of talent then someone who couldn't even cut it in amateur boxing. I also seem to rememder something about Kimbo being in the NFL... a task Brock couldn't manage. Your heads is still wedged up there nice and tight. I hope you get some fresh air soon.

I agree with Dana's critique of Kimbo simply because he's unproven though...let's see what he does against a quality fighter. but he can't criticize elitexc for marketing Kimbo as a top draw though since he's done stuff like booking Sean Gannon or Tank Abbott himself for that matter. I also that the Shamrock vs Shamrock thing is a cheap gimmick and really a super one sided fight that Frank would kill that boring over the hill Ken who really should have retired a few years ago.
