Patrick Cote Says "We Know How to Beat Anderson Silva"

From the Toronto Sun.

"We know how to beat Anderson Silva," Patrick Cote recently told The Fight Network radio.

"The only way to beat him is to push the pace. Go forward all the time."

"You can't let him get confident and comfortable in the centre of the Octagon," says Cote. "You have to push the pace for five minutes every round. If I do that, I can catch him. I'll take care of him."

Yet another opponent saying they know how to beat the UFC Middleweight King. James Irvin said something really similar. Lets not forget what happened to Chris Leben(below).

**Edit. Sorry, not sure why I was thinking Leben was Canadian?**

why doesn't anyone use the same strategy he uses against him... like irvin throws a kick...no set up for it or nothing.. what did he think was goin to happen against a muai thai champion... i hope cote is lieing about his strategy cause if he isn't he's waisting his time training... honestly i hope they put machida against silva next... i don't wanna see machida champion in the best division...

I remember you posting a Cote video a while back, about 2-3 months ago. In the clip, he was explaining how he can take on Silva, it may have been an MMA rated clip, can't remember, but it would be nice if you could post it again, for those who have not seen it, or wish to see it again.

Pushing the pace is the Rio Chonan strategy.

contrary to popular belief, Chonan actually held his on in the stand up; landing several big shots.

He also managed to get Silva on his back and lay some decent GnP.

But Silva is now one of the best striker in the world on his feet.

Silva likes to get confortable... With his body. if he is attacked, he will directly "confortably" strick back, it is called "instinct". By going at him, Cote is going to get the most dangerous counter stricker in his face. This "strategy" is one a dozen of fighters have allready tried against him, what they d'ont realize is how Silva's puches really hurt. Ones he does notice it, he will start playing the distance, like everyone else. +
Patrick Cote, Tucking your stomack in d'ont change the fact that your a fatty fart.

Leben is from Portland Oregon not washington. A good wrestler with a great ground and pound game is who will beat Anderson. Like Fitch but bigger.

Really though, what do you expect him to say??? "I want to go into the ring and lose", if he has any hope he needs a good attitude... He could get lucky, anyone looking to beat Anderson basically needs an extremely lucky shot, more lucky than a Matt Serra haymaker. Cote's speed is lacking, but he does have an uncanny ability to knock people out with an extremely short hook. Anderson is so quick he never gets hit, and after he lands a couple quick jabs (he gets them in clean mind you) his opponents completely forget about offence or any gameplan if they had one against such a dynamic fighter.

Well even when you look at Leben...he didn't really even rush Silva either. He still gave Silva a lot of room and space...Leben was more...attack...wait.........attack attack...wait...wait...wait.....attack...wait...He didn't actually just attack him.

OMG! Cote is going to get murdered by Anderson, just dominated, he thinks by bringing it that he's going to beat him? OMFG. It's sad that he is that unintelligent, wow. Bring it against the best striker in the game? That only equals KO for Silva real.... real.... fast. What a fool. Machida will probably not fight Anderson as they are great friends and Anderson said the 205 belt belongs to Machida in his opinion.
Oh man, I can't wait to watch Cote get KO'd or submitted with ease.

Dude, Pat Cote is gonna do ok against Anderson. Mind you I don't think he'll be able to ko him. But then again I never thought he'd be able to ko Drew Mcfedres. I think that the man to beat him, if and when he gets another shot, will be Nate Marquart. That dude is a machine on his feet and on the ground. But we all need to remember. Pat Cote has never been ko"d so we"ll see
