Tito Ortiz Says "Dana White is Exactly Like Don King" on Howard Stern

Tito and Jenna were on the stern show this morning here is some of what Tito said, thanks to phillyburbs.com

Tito will be fighting Lyoto Machida on May 24 in Las Vegas, NV for UFC. Tito confirmed this once again this morning, taking some steam away from UFC’s impending announcement. I believe that Tito is being booked by UFC to lose, which isn’t a bad thing if he is on the way out. Machida is undefeated in his last four matches, yet he has never beaten anyone the caliber of Tito Ortiz.

Tito compared Dana White to Don King during the interview, saying they were exactly alike. Tito said that the only difference between the two is that King is black. Tito went on a diatribe about the pay scale in UFC. Ortiz said that UFC makes $43 billion a year, yet he makes $200,000 for a fight (leaving out his bonuses). Tito’s biggest outrage isn’t all about him, but for the younger fighters who are only making $5-10,000 a fight. I wrote about this when I first came to phillyBurbs.com and $10,000 after training costs is nothing compared to the revenue that UFC generates for an entire show.

Machida beat Penn by decision in a non UFC bout. Granted he outweighed Penn by a decent amount.

Tito's head size has reached epic proportions based on that picture.

If what he's saying is true though, I wish other fighters would step forward, or at least one with more credibility than Tito. He hasn't been relevant to the UFC elite since early '05 which results in him trying to capture attention more and more often and he's had personal problems with Dana in the past before. A nonbiased fighter would give his claims a lot more weight.

He's just an attention whore... I wouldn't rank Tito in the top 10. The fact he wants another fight with Shamrock is a joke. So you got the 45 year olds number. Freaking coward, I hope Machida puts him away. But on the other hand, fighters should be pulling at least 100K a year starting with a ufc contract. We're talking spike fight nights and event undercard fighters here. And bonus's for winning ect, ect, ect..... I feel that if fighters are able to train full time and are able to support them selves and their families the quality of the fights would go up drastically... The UFC, being the biggest promotion for mma really needs to step up to the plate.

I totally and completely agree with this. I'll just start watching whatever organization Tito and Couture go to.

I wish Pride was still around.
